Your journal is yours.

What we keep, how it’s protected, and what Juniper can and cannot see. This is the short version. The Privacy Policy has the long one.

The sharing switch in Settings, as it appears in the app.

Let Juniper use an AI provider
She sends only what a feature needs, and never your whole journal.
When it’s off

Off. Writing, goals, and achievements all still work. Voice notes and Ask Juniper are paused. Turning sharing off stops new requests; it cannot recall content already sent.

What gets sent, exactly.

Each feature sends only what it needs, at the moment you use it. Nothing goes anywhere until you turn sharing on.

Your content is not used to train AI models. All providers are named in the Privacy Policy, along with how long they keep requests.

When you ask for a prompt or suggestion
Goal titles, open waypoints, and your three latest entries for prompts; one goal and its waypoints for ideas; recent entries and achievement titles for achievements.
When you record
The recording and its transcript, for transcription and cleanup.
When you reflect or finish a goal
Reflection answers and pins, your name, activity totals, titles already on your lists, the goal being drawn.
Automatically, once it is on
Your first goal, first entry, and name in onboarding; an untitled entry's text for its title.

How it’s kept.

  • Encrypted in transit and at rest

Every connection to YearCraft is encrypted. Your data is encrypted where it is stored, recordings and exports included.

  • Stored in the USA

Your content lives on servers in the United States of America.

  • Backups and restore testing

We back up the database regularly and test restoring from backups.

  • Sign-in

Email and password, or Google. Passwords are stored hashed, reset links come to your email, and Settings lists your signed-in devices so you can sign the others out.

  • Payments

Stripe handles your card. We never see or store the full card number.

  • Monitoring without your words

Errors are reported with your writing scrubbed out before they leave the app. No entry, transcript, or answer reaches our error tracker, and neither does any link that works on its own.

We make leaving easy.

Take everything with you

Settings emails you a .zip with every entry, recording, postcard, goal, and achievement, on every plan. The link lasts 7 days.
